There are two types of belt conveyor belt connection: mechanical connection and glue connection.
The mechanical connection method is to connect the belts with metal clips or metal rivets. The strength of the belt connected by this method is relatively low. Generally, the strength of the connection is only 35%-40% of the strength of the rubber conveyor belt itself. The belt after the connection has a short service life and is prone to accidents. At the same time, metal objects impact the upper and lower rollers during the operation of the belt, causing noise during operation. However, this connection method is simple to operate and has a short working time. It is generally used in a small area of belt damage or sudden accidents and short maintenance time.
The bonding method can be divided into two types: hot bonding and cold bonding. After bonding, the belt strength is higher, the service life is significantly improved, and the belt runs smoothly. However, this connection method is complicated to operate, requires some auxiliary facilities, and requires a long maintenance time.
The hot bonding method uses polyvinyl chloride, epoxy resin or raw rubber as the main raw material to connect the belt through heating and vulcanization. The hot bonding method requires electricity or steam heating. The heating plate used for steam heating is heavy and inconvenient to handle, but the temperature is easy to control during heating. The electric heating plate is light in weight and easy to carry, but the temperature is often difficult to control when heating. The strength after connection can reach 85%-90% of the strength of the belt itself.
Now the neoprene adhesive is used to bond (ie cold bond) the conveyor belt at room temperature, and the effect is good. Practice has proved that the cold bonding process of neoprene adhesives not only has excellent comprehensive properties such as aging resistance, oil resistance, water resistance, chemical corrosion resistance and good airtightness, but also has convenient operation, simple process, solidified block, it has the characteristics of strong adhesive force, low cost and good effect.
