Features and Application of Rotary Kiln

The rotary kiln is a steel thin-walled cylinder mounted on a supporting device with an inclination of 1 to 6 percent. Due to the inclined installation of the cylinder, the materials in the kiln move in the axial direction while turning over in the circumferential direction. Thus, it slowly flows through the entire cylinder and undergoes complex physical and chemical changes to complete the dehydration and decarbonization process. It is discharged from its low end (also called the end of the kiln) and enters the cooling system. The fuel is injected into the high temperature zone of the kiln from its low end to burn. Under the action of natural or mechanical ventilation of the kiln head, the hot flue gas and materials flow through the kiln in reverse, and are discharged into the atmosphere through the chimney after collecting dust.

Rotary kiln has a wide range of applications and is a key equipment in industries such as cement, metallurgy, chemical industry, building materials, and ceramsite. Cement kilns are mainly used for calcination of cement clinker, divided into two categories: dry production cement kilns and wet production cement kilns. Metallurgical chemical kilns are mainly used for the magnetic roasting of lean iron ore in metallurgical industries; oxidation roasting of chromium and nickel iron ore; refractory plants roasting high metallurgical ore and aluminum mill roasting clinker, aluminum hydroxide; chemical plants roasting chrome ore and chromium Mineral powder and other minerals. Lime kiln (i.e. active lime kiln) is used to roast active lime and light-burned dolomite used in steel plants and ferroalloy plants.
