How to Solve the Noise Problem When the Open Circuit Ball Mill Operates

The mining equipment especially open circuit ball mill, would generate loud noise when operating. Zhengzhou mining machinery (ZK) experts said it’s important to find a way out. The noise caused trouble for the customer. This is a hot topic that customer concern about. Today we would set an example of open circuit ball mill to explain the methods of reducing the noise level.
As we all know, open circuit ball mill is an important equipment to produce powder in mining industry. It has the feature of easy to operate, simple structure, higher capacity, stable operation and wide application of material. But the noise is relatively high. The noise is pollution for the working environment and would influence the health of operator if exceed a certain level.
The noise of open circuit ball mill is mainly caused by the collision of material, steel ball and liner. It is spread along the liner,drum and inlet&outlet. The noise includes the collision sound between steel ball, steel ball and inner steel plate, collision and friction sound of materials and the vibration of transmission part(motor and reducer).
The scheme 1; Replace manganese steel liner with rubber liner.
The two functions of replacing manganese steel liner with rubber liner are as follows;
Reduce the directly collision sound of steel ball and liner which reduce the vibration of vibration source. Segregate the transmission of vibration to the drum. Actually the noise could low 10-15DB.
The scheme 2; Add elastic layer under the liner
Pave heat resistant soft rubber mat between the inner surface of drum and liner. To avoid the soft rubber mat overheat, the industrial blanket with thickness 10-15mm would be paved between ball mill liner and sot rubber mat. This could reduce the noise under the allowed standard.
The scheme 3; Damping noise insulation
Use damping material with viscoelasticity to reduce the noise of ball mill. It make use of the hysteretic state the damping material from glass state to rubber state. No change any equipment or running parameter of ball mill. The installation and dis-assembly is convenient.
The scheme 4; Wrap sound insulating layer in the outer wall of drum
Wrap one layer 50mm thickness industrial blanket in the outer wall of drum of ball mill. And use 1mm steel plate as surface cover which is fasten by bolts in the outer wall of drum. Actually the noise insulation level is 12DB. If the inlet and outlet of drum dispose same way. The noise insulation level could improve.
