Project Introduction

The Thailand company is a leading global provider of mining and specialty materials solutions. The customer required a equipment for dispersing ball clay, which has a maximum particle size of 300mm and the moisture content of about 10-20%. When the moisture content is below 10%, the ball clay appears dry and has high hardness. When the moisture content is greater than 20%, the ball clay appears viscous sludge and highly sticky. The raw materials contain solid particles such as small sand and small stones, and the situation of the raw materials is complex. The customer required a proper equipment to make all raw materials below 70mm as output size to meet the operational requirements of downstream equipment. This equipment is in the middle section of the entire production line with limited space occupied. Therefore, the structural design of the equipment needed to be compact to save space.

Project Description：

Under restricted condition and complex raw material situations, the technical personnel of Henan Zhengzhou Mining Machinery Co.Ltd. was not afraid of difficulties. With the aim of providing customers with the best solution, we held multiple rounds of video conferences with Thai customers. Both sides discussed the working principles, equipment selection calculations, and related reasoning and argumentation of various equipment. And we remotely guided customers to conduct hardness and viscosity testing on the raw materials. In the end, both parties agreed to use a paddle mixer to process the raw material, and determined the core technical parameters such as the model, power, material of paddle mixer key parts, external dimensions, and main shift speed of the paddle mixer. By simulating layout, the paddle mixer had been arranged reasonably to meet the local site’s space.

Our professional and detailed technical solutions, as well as our patient technical Q&A, have ultimately won the trust and recognition of the customer. The customer had decided to purchase the paddle mixer from Henan Zhengzhou Mining Machinery Co.Ltd. Both sides had signed a contract for paddle mixer. As a serious and responsible attitude towards the client's project, we recommended the customer to send two tons of raw materials before the official fabrication of the paddle. We adopted the similar paddle mixer existed in our workshop to further verify the functionality and selection of the paddle mixer. The Solid Waste Research Center of Henan Zhengzhou Mining Machinery Co.Ltd divided the experimental materials by particle size and moisture, and performed multiple rounds of testing work. A lot of operational data was collected through testing, including motor current, motor vibration, raw material size of inlet and outlet changing data, effects of raw material moisture, processing time, and processing capacity. Based on the testing results, the structure of the paddle mixer had been further optimized as follows:

1. Optimized the mixing blade material and spindle material of the paddle mixer to increase the wear resistance and life time of the mixing blades.

2. Optimized the spindle speed to increase the impact energy of the blades on the raw material and enhance the adaptability to the raw materials.

3. Optimized the spacing of the mixing blades. Reasonably arrange the blades while ensuring the strength of the spindle.

4. Added the water spraying mechanism to stabilize the moisture content of the processed raw materials.

5. Added grates in the discharge section to prevent the discharge of unqualified size raw materials, which will continue to remain in the paddle mixer for further processing.

6. Added two sets of crushing function blades above the discharge grate plate specifically for dispersing large particle materials.

7. Optimized the motor starting method to enable the paddle mixer to perform a soft start at full load, making it convenient for on-site operation.
